Tail short, ~ 1/3 of TL; teeth close set, molar like, in 2-3 rows on lower jaw, in a continuous pavement on top jaw and on roof of mouth; gill opening a small hole on mid-side; dorsal and anal fully but poorly developed; dorsal fin origin before gill opening; tip of tail blunt with a skin-covered fin.
