Head broad, its pores with fleshy flaps at margins, no pores on preopercle; head without barbels; tongue tip blunt or slightly concave; rear nostril longer than front one; 1st dorsal fin VII spines; pelvic fins completely separate; tail large, rounded; scales smooth, extend forward on body to level of 3rd dorsal fin spine, becoming reduced and embedded anteriorly.
