GIANT BLENNIES

Elongate, robust; head deep, blunt; one branched cirrus over eye, 2 clusters of nape cirri; no large canines at rear of lower jaw;  gill openings wide, membranes not fused to belly; dorsal fin with notch between spinous and soft parts; lateral line continuous, bends down above origin of anal fin, rear section consisting of 18-21 short, 2-pored tubes.

An eastern Pacific temperate genus with 7 species, one of which enters the southern fringe of our region.
