Body slender; 1 pair short, heavily branched cirri above eyes; groove along side of head between nape and eye; no large canine teeth; gill openings restricted to sides of body, gill membranes fused to throat; dorsal with VIII-IX spines, without notch between spiny & soft parts; lateral line straight, short, ends above origin of anal fin.
A tropical eastern Pacific genus with one species.
