Body moderately elongate; large cirrus over eye; teeth on sides of roof of mouth; dorsal fins III+XIII+10-13, some of segmented rays branched; anal rays II, 18-22; pelvic fins joined by membrane for at least 1/3 of length of outer ray; lateral line in 2 sections, 1st section with tubed scales, 2nd with notched scales; preoperculum and operculum with scales.
This genus has 3 species, all endemic to our region.
