Slender anchovy

Slender (depth ~ 18% of SL, compressed; snout medium, pointed (~ ¾ eye diameter); top jaw long, reaching almost to end of gill cover, tip pointed; membrane between gill covers not expanded at rear; third gill arch with a few short rakers on its rear face; 22-27 lower gill rakers; no large canine teeth; dorsal fin origin in mid-body; anal fin base short, iii, 16-19 rays, origin under ~ center of dorsal fin; anus nearer tips of pelvic fins than to anal fin; pectorals short, not reaching pelvics.

Silver stripe along flank narrow, about ½ eye diameter.

Size: 7.5 cm.

Habitat: marine, coastal pelagic, apparently not in estuaries.

Depth: 0-10 m?

The Gulf of California to Ecuador.
