Chame anchovy
Elongate, slender, compressed body; snout very short, rounded (~ ½ eye diameter); upper jaw long, tip bluntly pointed, reaching onto interopercle; membrane between gill covers not expanded at rear; third gill arch with a few short rakers on its rear face; 18-23 lower gill rakers; no large canine teeth; dorsal fin origin in mid-body, fin relatively low; anal fin with moderate base, iii, 21-24 rays, origin under middle of dorsal; pectoral short, not reaching pelvics; anus nearer tips of pelvics than anal fin.
Width of silver stripe on flank ~ ¾ eye diameter; a dark line along the back & tail top.
Size: 7.5 cm.
Habitat: marine, pelagic, coastal.
Depth: 0-10 m?
Costa Rica and Panama.
