Elongate, slender, compressed body, snout elatively long, blunt; rear of the mouth extends well behind the eye; top jaw long, tip bluntly pointed, reaching onto interopercle; lower jaw suspended below head; no large canine teeth; membrane between gill covers not expanded at rear; 17-20 lower gill rakers;third gill arch with a few short rakers on its rear face, 6-7 upper rakers; dorsal fin origin in mid-body; anal fin with with very short base, iii, 14-17 rays, origin under/behind last dorsal ray;pectorals short, not reaching pelvics; pelvics well behind pectorals, before dorsal fin base, reach under dorsal origin.
Grey-green above; width of silver stripe on flank, width ~ 3/4 eye diameter.
Size: 12.5 cm.
Habitat: marine, pelagic and coastal over sand and gravel bottoms.
Depth: 0-10 m?
