Elongate, compressed body, snout moderate length, blunt; rear of the mouth extends well behind the eye; top jaw short (not quite reaching preopercle) with blunt, rounded tip; lower jaw suspended below head; no large canine teeth; membrane between gill covers not expanded at rear; 21-24 lower gill rakers;third gill arch with a few short rakers on its rear face, 6-7 upper rakers; dorsal fin origin over anal origin; anal fin with very long base, iii,28-34 rays; pectorals short, not reaching pelvics; pelvics well behind pectorals, before dorsal fin base.
Grey-green above, silvery below; a silver stripe ~ ¾ eye diameter along flank.
Size: 12.5 cm.
Habitat: shallow coastal lagoons.
Depth: 0-10 m?
