Elongate, relatively slender; snout relatively long, blunt; upper jaw long, tip bluntly pointed, reaching onto interopercle; membrane between gill covers not expanded at rear; third gill arch with a few short rakers on its rear face; 16-21 lower gill rakers; no large canine teeth; dorsal fin origin in mid-body; anal fin with short base, iii, 17-21 (rarely 23) rays, origin a little behind center of dorsal base; pectorals short, not reaching pelvics;pelvics reach under dorsal origin.
Grey-green above; silver stripe on flank > eye diameter overal anal fin.
Size: 10 cm.
Habitat: marine, pelagic and coastal over sand and gravel bottoms.
Depth: 0-10 m?.
