Body slender, elongate; head long, depressed; 1 pore between eyes; papillae on cheek and gill cover; top jaw extends well past eye; dorsal fin IV (1st spine not elongate in male) + I, 15; anal 13 rays; 1 long flexible skin flap on shoulder in front of base of pectoral fin; tail fin long, rounded; scales - smooth, few, minute, imbedded, non-overlapping.
Translucent, sparse black dots on head and upper body; tail fin - top border and lower 1/3 dark; anal fin - base clear, a medial black band, white margin; dorsal fin - tips of spines black, soft part clear, with outer 3/4 of rays black.
Size: 3 cm.
Habitat: intertidal sandy beaches, in burrows.
Depth: 0-4 m.
Costa Rica.
