Dark goby
Body slender, compressed; head flattened, wide between eyes; mouth long (reaching under mid-eye) oblique at front, horizontal at rear; tip of tongue forked; teeth in bands, without canines; well developed pores and papillae on head; 1st dorsal VII (longest spine not reaching origin of second dorsal) + I, 13 rays; anal I, 13 rays; pectoral fin 20, long, pointed; pelvics fused in disc; tail fin long (about ½ SL), rounded or pointed, 10-13 rays; scales mostly smooth, large (28-38 on side), present only behind pectoral base.
Dark brown with pale mottling, paler ventrally; flank with 4 dark bars; a dark spot on the lower half of the base of the pectoral fin; tail fin base without dark spot.
Size: 6 cm.
Habitat: soft bottoms.
Depth: 1-10 m.
Gulf of Panama.
