Spot-back goby

Elongate; head rounded; upper lip connected to snout at front; a pore midway between front of the two eyes; 2 pores on preopercle; no teeth on roof of mouth; tongue with blunt tip; dorsal VII + I, 9 (8-10); anal rays I, 8 (7-9); pectoral rays 18; pelvic fins fused in a disc; tail rounded; scales absent except for 2 small rough scales on tail-fin base.

Head yellowish with brown bar below eye, also brown bands and spots on cheek and opercle; body translucent pale yellow to whitish with several longitudinal rows of small brown spots on upper half; body with 6-7 internal, wavy brown bars.

Size: to 3 cm.

Inhabits reefs and rock outcrops surrounded by sand.

Depth: 5-20 m.

Southern Mexico to Panama.
