Gecko goby

Body elongate; head flattened; eyes large, close together on top of head; head without pores; papillae on most parts of head and nape; front nostril larger than rear nostril, both are long tubes; mouth slightly oblique, lower jaw slightly projecting; tongue broad, tip deeply indented; dorsal fin VII (none elongated) + I, 9-10; I, 8-9 anal fin rays, pectoral fins 17-19, fin short; pelvic fins completely separate, with branched rays; tail fin broadly rounded; scales present only on posterior half of body, anterior scales small, smooth, and embedded, becoming larger and rough posteriorly; four rough scales on caudal fin base, the upper and lower with excessively long edge-teeth.

White with 8-9 dark brown, pale-centered bars on body + head and 3 brown bands radiating from eye; caudal fin with about 5 brown cross bars, including one at base.

Size: attains 4.4 cm.

Inhabits sand and rubble among rocks.

Depth: 2-30 m.
