Saddlebanded goby, Mexican bearded-goby
Body depressed; head robust, depressed; head with ~ 30 large (> eye diameter) barbels, including 1 median barbel at tip of snout; 2 large barbels under eye; 8 barbels along and behind lower jaw; front of tongue with 2 lobes; front nostril tubular, points forward, rear nostril tubular, points up; pores on head, including preopercle; gill opening small to a shallow S slit along base of pectoral; dorsal fin VII + I, 8-9; 7-8 anal rays; 18-20 pectoral rays; pelvics fused into a disc; tail round; no scales.
Tan or white, with; 4-5 thick dark bars on body, from nape to base of tail fin; narrow brown bar on nape above preopercle; dark bar on pectoral base; dark bar obliquely from eye down across operculum; fins clear.
Size: 3.5 cm.
Habitat: rocky shores.
Depth: 0-20 m?
The tip of Baja, Tres Marias Islands to central Mexico.
