Slow goby
Body elongate, somewhat compressed; head large, flattened, with puffy cheeks; mouth large, oblique; tip of tongue notched; pore between middle of eyes but none in front of eyes; preopercle with 2 pores & 1 small barbel on its edge, no other barbels on head; dorsal fin VII + I, 11-12; anal rays I, 9-12; pectoral rays 17-20 (rarely 16); pelvics fused to form disc; tail long, rounded; no scales; no lateral line.
Brown with 6-7 white bars, these sometimes incomplete or posterior 1-4 bars weak or missing; a narrow white bar at pectoral fin base followed by a dark brown bar; fins dusky brown to whitish.
Size: attains 6.5 cm.
Habitat: a secretive species that inhabits rocky crevices in tide pools and under cobble in shallow water.
Depth: to at least 15 m.
Endemic to Gulf of California.
