Tadpole shaped, head broad, depressed; papillae on head small, poorly developed, none on margin of top lip; top lip broad, much wider at front than at sides; rear nostril over front edge of eye, front nostril with a medium sized bilobed flap; top jaws each with an irregular outer row of pointed teeth, & a patch of irregular teeth behind them, canines along side; teeth on lower jaw in 2 rows, outer row larger, 6-7 pairs of rounded incisors at front, followed by row of canines; anus much closer to anal fin origin than sucker; sucker large, with papillae at front (a broad band), center (2 widely spaced patches) & rear, with 6-7 rows of papillae across front section, a large fleshy pad with free rear edge at base of pectoral fin; dorsal fin long, 17-20 rays, origin near pectoral tip; anal rays 10-12, tip extends past dorsal tip; pectoral rays 24; caudal rays 10-11.
(Preserved fish) Top and sides blotched & spotted with irregular pattern of black; head with several thin dark lines radiating from eye to front and sides of mouth; fins uniform grey, pectorals lighter; lower surface dark behind sucker, with some color on and before sucker.
Size: 7 cm.
Habitat: rocky bottoms.
Depth: 0-10 m?.
