Tadpole shaped, head broad, depressed; well developed lobe-like papillae on head and along margin of upper lip, none on center of snout; top lip broad, much wider at front than at sides; rear nostril over front edge of eye, front nostril with a large flap that has 2 large, wide lobes; top jaws each with an irregular outer row of pointed teeth, & a patch of irregular teeth behind them, canines along side; teeth on lower jaw in 2 rows, outer row larger, front 4 pairs 3-pointed, followed by row of canines, 2nd and 3rd large; anus ~ midway between anal fin origin and sucker; sucker large, with papillae at front (a broad band), center (2 widely spaced patches) & rear; 9-10 rows of papillae across front section, patches in center, each with 4-5 longitudinal rows of papillae; a large fleshy pad with free rear edge at base of pectoral fin; dorsal fin short, 10-11 rays, well behind pectoral; anal rays 8- 9; pectoral rays 21-22; caudal rays 10.
(Preserved fish) Top and sides uniform dark blackish brown; dorsal, anal and tail fins same color, with clear margins; dorsal with distinct black spot at front edge; pectorals clear, with small brown spots along each ray.
Size: 4.9 cm.
Habitat: rocky shores.
Depth: 0-10 m?
Endemic to the Revillagigedos Islands.
