Panamic clingfish
Tadpole shaped, head broad, depressed; well developed lobe-like papillae on head and along margin of upper lip; top lip broad, much wider at front than at sides; top jaw with a deep patch of conical teeth at front, followed on each side by row of slightly recurved canines; lower jaw with 2 rows of incisors, those of outer row much larger, incisors followed on each side by a row of larger canines; anus about midway between rear margin of disc and anal fin origin, well in front of dorsal fin origin; sucker large, with papillae at front (a broad band), center (2 widely spaced patches) & rear, 7-10 rows of flattened papillae across front of disc, 4-7 longitudinal rows on each central patch; a large fleshy pad with free rear edge at base of pectoral fin; dorsal rays 11, well behind pectoral; anal rays 9-10; pectoral rays 21-24; caudal rays 10-12.
Tan to whitish with overall dorsal covering of light brown and blue spots separated by fine reticulum of blue lines; fins barred; a black spot at front of dorsal fin.
Size: to at least 4.7 cm.
Inhabits rocky reefs.
Depth: 0-10 m?
The central Gulf of California to Ecuador; the Revillagigedos and Cocos Island.
