Barcheek tube-blenny, Bohlke's tube-blenny

Elongate, relatively long; head short, blunt, not spiny on top; simple cirri at nostrils; 1 pair of short (<½ eye diameter) unbranched eye cirri; no cirri on nape; notch at middle of top lip; 1 row of teeth on each side of roof of mouth; dorsal fin XIX, 10-12, notch between spines and rays, fin low at front in both sexes; anal rays II, 19-21; pectoral rays 13-14.

Male: dark brown body and head; body with rows of white spots along upper back and along mid-flank; cheek and lower operculum with several oblique alternating white and black bars; dorsal fin mottled, with white front; female: light body & head; body with many thin internal dark bars; dorsal fin clear; lower head with dark bars; ~ 3 narrow white oblique bars on cheek.

Size: 3.1 cm.

Habitat: coastal rocky areas, especially on boulders.

Depth: 1-5 m.

The SE corner of the Gulf of California to Costa Rica and Cocos.
