Small-toothed jobfish
Elongate, fusiform body; flat between eyes; snout pointed; lower jaw strongly projecting; teeth minute, no canines, none on roof of mouth; tail deeply forked with pointed tips; dorsal continuous, without notch, X, 10-11; anal III, 8; dorsal and anal with last rays filamentous; pectoral long, 15-16; scales small; lateral line scales 65-75; dorsal and anal scaleless
Purplish-brown above, blue-grey below, a silverly to orange sheen over body; edges of preopercle and opercle black, with orange tint; orange tints often to iris, edges of mouth, and all of fins
Size: 70 cm.
Habitat: inshore rocky and coral reefs.
Depth: 5-75 m.
Indo-Pacific; resident at Cocos in the eastern Pacific; also at Malpelo Is.
