A small goby with round head; a pair of pores between front of eyes, another pair before those, a pair between rear of eyes, 2 pairs behind those; eyes very large (1.5X snout length); mouth large, oblique, extending to middle of pupil; tongue heart shaped, with curled edges, a semicircle of widely separated, blunt teeth in center; center of roof of mouth of males with 3 well developed thin, pointed curved teeth; gill membranes broadly joined to body under throat, with 5 rays; 1st dorsal VI, spines III-IV elongate in males; length of 2nd dorsal base > distance from 2nd dorsal base to tail fin; pelvic fins I, 5, no anterior membrane between spines, a membrane completely unites 5th rays; tail fin deeply concave; no scales; no lateral line.
