Body elongate, compressed, relatively short, slender, depth ~10% SL; head pointed, snout long; mouth small, opens at front, top jaw protractile; a projecting lower jaw; no teeth; a single low, very long-based dorsal fin, 43-45 rays; anal fin short based, under rear of dorsal fin, 17 rays; dorsal and anal fins without spines; pelvic fins present, well developed, length 6% SL; tail forked; lateral line very high on the sides; minute smooth scales not arranged in oblique rows, 92-95 on lateral line, 4 & 9 scales above and below the lateral line; lateral line simple, without branches or accessory projections above it.

Reaches at least 12 cm
Presumably on sandy bottoms
Depth range 187 m
Known only from a single specimen collected off St Vincent, SE Caribbean.
