Disc ~circular; snout relatively long (length before eyes 14% TL), very blunt, with a small point; front edge of disc undulating; pectorals with tips broadly rounded, rear edges convex, middle rays not extended outwards as spatula-like projections; pectoral supports extend to level of tip of snout, but separated by a clear space from rostrum; pelvic fins with front and rear lobes continuous, with a weak notch separating them; tail 47% of TL, with narrow base, a skin flap along all of on each side, 2 dorsal fins & a rudimentary tail fin with a long, low upper lobe only; upper surface of body and tail with sparse denticles, a band of small thorns along front edge of disc, thorns along snout, around eyes, on nape and shoulders, and a single central row along center of disc and tail, with another row along each side of tail; underside of disc smooth except pectoral fins with 2 rows of claw-like denticles along outer front edge from tip of snout to corner of fin.
Upper surface brown, with pairs of elongate dark-ringed white spots; lower surface whitish.
Reaches 75 cm
Lives on soft bottoms.
Depth range 315-922 m.
