Streamer Bass

Body elongate, compressed; head short, compressed; eye large, 11-19% SL; mouth strongly oblique; rear of top jaw exposed when mouth closed, without accessory bone above it; canine teeth at front of mouth; teeth on center and sides of roof of mouth; preopercle margin serrated above and below, no long spines; 36-43 gill rakers; dorsal fin with X, 15 (13-16), short filaments on spines in adult; anal fin III, 7-9; pelvics inserted under base of pectoral; pectorals 15-19; pelvic fin 24-38% of SL; tail fin deeply forked, tips long and filamentous; scales small, rough, 42-50 on lateral line, 7-8 rows between 5th dorsal fin spine and lateral line; rear 30-60% of lower jaw scaled, top jaw and most of snout and area between eyes scaleless.

Reddish orange above, silvery on sides and below; iris yellow and red; pectoral pink; dorsal, anal and pelvic fins pale yellow; tail fin lobes yellow,

Reaches 35 cm.

Lives on reefs.

Depth range: 91- 1010 m.
