Peppered Goby
A short snout; eye large; head without barbells; no head pores; front nostril tubular; rear nostril a raised rim; a groove between the upper lip and snout; gill membranes broadly joined to body under throat, with 5 rays; dorsal fin VIII (none elongate) + I, 10-11; length of 2nd dorsal base > distance from 2nd dorsal base to tail fin; anal fin I, 7-8; pectoral fin 16 (15-17); pelvic fins I, 5, fins united forming a disc; tail fin rounded; scales rough, only on tail base, in 3-4 rows, and along bottom of body from anal fin to pelvic fin, 2 very rough scales at end of tail base; no lateral line.
Dark overall with numerous small spots; fins paler.
Reaches: 2.6 cm.
Habitat: Collected from sponges.
Depth: 11-30 m.
The Bahamas to the Central Caribbean.
