Bluegold goby

Head and body compressed; body slender; head profile round, front nostril a long tube, rear a raised rim; head without pores; papillae around mouth, on cheeks and operculum and over eye; mouth very oblique; tongue rounded to pointed; gill opening narrow, ~pectoral base; gill membranes with 5 rays;  dorsal fin VI (1st 2 elongate, reaching tail base) + I, 9 (8-9), length of 2nd dorsal base > distance from 2nd dorsal base to tail fin;  anal fin I, 8 (8-9); pectoral fin 16 (15-17), rays unbranched; pelvics I, 5, fused into disc; tail fin short, round, with 17 segmented rays; scales rough, body scaled except chest and pectoral base, 26 (25-27) lateral rows, none on head and nape; no lateral line.

Blue-grey with ~13 yellow-orange bars on head and body, each blue bar with darker center line, orange bars without a dark center line; a large spot extending full width of pectoral fin base.

Reaches 2.5 cm.

Depth range: 1-97 m.
