Zebrette Goby
Elongate; head and body compressed; a pore midway between front of the two eyes; 2 pores on preopercle; upper lip connected to snout along most of its length; anterior nostril tubular, posterior a rim with a small flap; teeth in upper jaw in a broad patch, outer row enlarged and not closely packed, 1 or 2 fangs present near rear inner margin; teeth in lower jaw in a broad patch of depressible teeth, outer row directed slightly forward and its teeth somewhat larger, the patch is broadest at front of jaw, 2 very large prominent canines in front row; gill membranes broadly joined to body under throat, with 5 rays; dorsal fin VII, (1st spine elongate) + I, 10 (10-11); length of 2nd dorsal base > distance from 2nd dorsal base to tail fin; anal fin I, 9; pectoral fin 18 (17-19); pelvic fins I, 5, disk complete; tail rounded; a patch of 9-12 scales on tail base; 4 large rough scales on rear body between dark bars 10-12, 4 large rough scales on tail fin base; no lateral line.
Head translucent yellowish with narrow black bars; body blue, with 13 prominent, sharply defined dark brown bars behind the pectoral fin, body bars relaviely wide, sometimes wider than pale interspaces.
Reaches: 2.0 cm.
Habitat: coral reef areas under coral rubble.
Depth: 0-20 m.
