Elongate; head compressed, profile rounded; snout short; top lip fused to snout; tongue rounded; teeth in upper jaw in several rows at front, canines present in inner row; gill membranes broadly joined to body under throat, with 5 rays; dorsal fin VII + I, 11-12; length of 2nd dorsal base > distance from 2nd dorsal base to tail fin; anal fin I, 10; pectoral fins 18-19; pelvic fins I, 5, disk complete; tail rounded; no scales; no lateral line.
Dark grey upper head and body; a very thin white lateral stripe from upper eye to tail fin; a very thin white bar on snout from level of eye to top lip; body with a broad dark lateral stripe running along the mid-line, ends in a rounded extension on the anterior part of the tail fin; all fins clear.
Reaches 5 cm.
Habitat: coral reefs, found in association with sponges.
Depth: 0-24 m.
Honduras and Belize.
