Redlip Blenny

Elongate, compressed; short blunt head with steep front profile; teeth numerous, movable, a large, curved canine tooth at rear on each side of lower jaw; a single branched cirrus at nostril, a single slender cirrus over eye, and a pair of short cirri on each side of nape; gill openings wide, open below body; dorsal fin without notch between spiny & soft parts, XII, 19-21; anal fin II, 20-22; fin rays unbranched, except on tail fin; lateral line in 2 disconnected, overlapping parts, with 10 or fewer tubes in rear section; no scales.

Dark brown; lower lip, lower part of pectoral and margins of dorsal and anal fins red.

Reaches 12.5 cm.

Lives on reefs.

Depth range: 0-70 m.

N Carolina to the S Caribbean. Its Brazilian sister species is O. trinitatis.
