Ridgebrowed sailfin blenny

Body elongate; head globular, without spines; 2 smooth longitudinal ridges on snout, a pair of obvious, convex bony ridges on rear half of area between eyes; 1 long (2.5X eye length in male), slender eye cirrus; 1 row of 13 teeth on each front-side of roof of mouth, 1 tooth at front of roof of mouth; dorsal fin XXII, 15, no flap-like flag on base of 1st spine in male, front of fin greatly elevated, 4th spine is longest; anal fin II, 24; pelvics I (internal), inserted before pectoral base, fin longer than pectoral, with 3 obvious rays (3rd ray >1/4 length of longest ray); pectoral 13; all fin rays unbranched; no lateral line; no scales.

Preserved fish: bronze, with 2 rows of wide 8 brown bars on body with narrow interspaces, one on mid-flank, the other under dorsal fin, those on mid-flank separated by thin Y-shaped bars; 2 dark oblique bars on cheek; dorsal fin with dark oblique bars at front, with a small dark spot on base of first spine and a small ocellus on margin of fin between spines III-V.

Reaches 6 cm.

Lives on soft bottoms.

Depth: 0-64 m.
