Colombian Blenny

Body elongate; head short and blunt, not swollen behind eyes, without spines; 2 smooth longitudinal ridges on snout; 1 short unbranched cirrus over eye, nasal cirrus simple to with two points; 1 row of 14-16 teeth on each front-side of roof of mouth; dorsal fin XIX-XXI, 14-15, fin greatly elevated and sail-like at front in male, 1st spine relatively short, spine V longest, male with a flap-like flag on base of 1st spine; anal fin II, 22-23; pectoral 13; pelvics I (internal), inserted before pectoral base, longer than pectoral, with 3 obvious rays (3rd ray >1/4 length of longest ray); fin rays unbranched; no lateral line; no scales.

Preserved fish: pale brown with dark speckling, especially on front half; indistinct stripes on rear edge of preopercle and base of tail fin, small dark blotches on rear of cheek and along rear midflank; first 10 dorsal spines black; tail fin clear; pelvics with dark membranes.

Reaches 4.4 cm.

On rubble and sand bottoms.

Depth range: 1-11 m.
