Twinhorn blenny
Elongate; head short, blunt, not spiny on top; simple cirri at nostrils; 2 unbranched cirri on each eye, rear one tiny or absent, none on nape; notch at middle of top lip; 1 row of teeth on each side of roof of mouth; dorsal fin XVII-XIX,11, a notch between spines and rays, fin higher at front in male, with a flag like flap on front of first spine; anal fin II, 18-21; pectoral fin ~13; pelvics I (internal), 2-3, inserted before pectoral base; all fin rays unbranched; no lateral line; no scales.
Male with front half of body and dorsal fin black, heavily speckled with blue dots, rear half translucent greenish, with pale brown bars; a whitish, blue-edged bar back and down from eye; front 3 spines of dorsal fin whitish orange, other fins yellowish. Female pale greenish, with a faint stripe along side; often black spots on underside of head; a white angled bar on cheek; front of dorsal fin white.
Reaches 2.5 cm.
Lives in holes or empty barnacles in rock in shallow surge zones.
Depth range: 0-4 m, usually near the waterline.
