Bald blenny
Elongate, snout relatively long (11-11.9% SL), pointed; no barbell on tip of chin; a broad, flattened cirrus with 3 stubby points over eye, none on nostrils or on nape; front nostril a relatively long tube; opercle with spiny projection; dorsal fin composed primarily of flexible spines, XXVI-XXVIII, 1 ray, deep notch between 3rd and 4th dorsal spines, front 2 spines greatly elevated in an elongate triangle; anal fin II, 17-18; pectoral 12; pelvic fins I (internal), 2; all fin rays unbranched; lateral line complete, continuous, arched over pectoral fin, 33 scales; smooth scales on rear of body.
Head and body red to red-brown, top of snout, cheek and throat white; two small ocelli on rear base of dorsal fin, none on anal fin; dorsal and anal fins with a series of dark bars, 1st bar on dorsal on elevated front spines; tail fin clear.
Reaches 2.4 cm.
Lives on reef dropoffs.
Depth range: 12-48 m.
The Bahamas to the central Caribbean.
