Coral blenny
Elongate, snout bluntly pointed; no barbell on tip of chin; cirri on nostrils, short 3-4 pointed cirrus over eyes, short, wattle-like cirri on both sides of nape; opercle with spiny projection; dorsal fin XXVII-XXVIII flexible spines, deep notch between 3rd and 4th dorsal spines, front spines elevated, 0 rays; anal fin II, 15-16; pectorals usually 12; pelvic fins I (internal), 2; all fin rays unbranched; no scales on pectoral base; lateral line complete, continuous, arched over pectoral fin, 27-31 scales; smooth scales on rear of body.
Cream to tan; head mottled with black and red, a dark bar down and back from eye; body orange above, white below, with 3-4 black bars, front 3 are strongest, and extend well onto dorsal and anal fins; dorsal fin without ocellus; tail fin pale, with a thin dark bar at its base.
Reaches 2.4 cm.
Lives in coral rubble on reefs and in tide pools.
Depth range: 0-10 m.
