Pigmy Silverside

Slender, elongate, compressed; body depth <15.8% SL; least depth of tail base <8.5% SL; 4 large quadrangular sensory pits on top of snout; top jaw strongly extendible, premaxilla with rear end greatly expanded, without expanded bony process above its center; 16 or more (usually 18-19) gill rakers; first dorsal V, origin well before origin of anal; pectoral reaches past origin of pelvic; anus about half way between anal fin origin and pelvic base; pelvics reach to or past anus; rear edges of side scales smooth or irregular, not fringed; pelvic axillary scale >1/3 fin length.

Pale to translucent; prominent silver flank stripe, which occupies amost entire side of body at rear.

Size: 6 cm.

Habitat: coastal lagoon with mangroves.

Depth: 0-10 m?

Known only from Brus Lagoon, Honduras.
