Slender, elongate, compressed; 4 quadrangular sensory pits on top of snout; top jaw strongly extendible, premaxilla with rear end greatly expanded, without expanded bony process above its center; first dorsal V, origin well before origin of anal; anus ~midway between anal fin origin and pelvic base; tips of pelvics reach anus, pectoral very short, not reaching origin of pelvic; side scales with strongly serrated rear edges; pelvic axillary scale >1/3 fin length.
Pale to silvery; silver flank stripe with black upper margin.
Size: 5.7 cm.
Habitat: a pelagic, coastal species.
Depth: 0-10 m?
Colombia.
