Longarm Brotula
Elongate; head depressed, pointed; eye moderate, 13-16% of head length; head with prominent papillae and raised flaps; front nostril tubular, immediately above the top lip, rear nostril a circular hole; teeth on sides of roof of mouth; no central tooth patch at bottom of gill arches, paired patches at bases of gill arches 3-5; opercular spine flattened and flap-like; lower edge of preopercle with curved, forward- pointing spine; dorsal fin 63-70; anal fin 51-57; pectoral fin at end of elongate stalk, 13-15; each pelvic fin is one thread, inserted under throat; tail fin 10, joined to dorsal and anal fins; rows of small papillae along side of belly; scales on body and much of head; male with fleshy pad and hooded penis immediately behind anus.
Brown overall; head darker than rest.
Reachs 7.3 cm.
Lives on reefs.
Depth range: 6-55 m.
