Cuban Longfin Herring
Body elongate, moderately compressed; mouth opens at front, top jaw short, lower jaw not projecting; top jaw with only 2 toothed bones, without a gap between them; 17-18 lower gill rakers; a single dorsal fin, origin distinctly behind midbody and behind origin of anal; anal with long base, 39-43 rays; pectoral fins low on the side just behind the head; no fin spines; pelvic fins absent; a forked tail fin; belly with 23-28 scutes forming a sharp keel.
Probably greenish brown on back, silvery white below with a silver mid-lateral band.
Size: probably ~11 cm.
Habitat: marine, coastal.
Depth: 0-10 m?
Cuba.
