Habitat
Sandy and rocky substratum. Can be found in intertidal zones up to 10 m water depth.

Caribbean Islands, Canaries Islands, Madeira, Florida, Caribbean: Panama, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Japan, Indonesia.

Characteristics
Straight trunk with a fan shape up to 30 cm high. Yellowish color under water and with coffee color when the species is taken out of the water. Without rolled margins (like Padina) and laminal sheets without ondulations at the base (like Zonaria). Four cortex cells in the old section or in the base.
