Habitat
In coral reef (under dead coral) and Thalassia sp. habitats, mangrove prop roots.

Distribution
Panama, Brazil, Israel, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Caledonia, Fiji Is., Palao, Phillipines, French Polynesia, Hawaii.

Natural History Notes
A common ascidian that often fouls man made surfaces. Also hosts Enterocola arapterophorus.

Characteristics
Surface of the tunic covered by small papillae filled with spicules. Usually uniform brick color. Zooids with small thorax (3-6 stigmata per row in the branchial sac), undivided testis, sperm duct coiled 6-8 turns.
