PROGRAM MANAGER - Center for Tropical Forest Science Please note: Applications can be made online through http://jobs.harvard.edu/jobs/search_req. With position # 30694 The Center for Tropical Forest Science is a rapidly expanding international research network for tropical forest science & training. The Program Manager will coordinate management activities, development opportunities, outreach initiatives, & facilitate network building. Position reports to the Director of CTFS. Program Management: will provide management accounting & reporting for several large grants on forests & climate change. Involves coordination with subproject Principal Investigators, meeting deadlines for quarterly reporting, ensuring annual planning for future expenditures, interacting with donor, NGO & international partners, & developing outreach opportunities for the program. Does not involve financial accounting but rather working with the CTFS accounts & logistics managers to ensure achievement of goals & adherence to grant requirements. Development: work with CTFS director on development projects. Will involve working with Arnold Arboretum & STRI development offices, and with CTFS staff in Panama to assist in fund raising initiatives. Outreach: develop initiatives for outreach related to CTFS. Network Functions: implement network initiatives (e.g., workshops, cross-site interactions). Required Education, Experience and Skills Basic qualifications: Bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 yrs related experience. Additional Requirements: Advanced degree preferred. Significant regional travel required. Will mostly involve trips to Washington DC & Panama; Washington to work with STRI development office & on program initiatives, and Panama to work with CTFS staff (Director of Applied Ecology, Director of Training, and financial/administrative staff). Travel may rarely be required to other CTFS sites. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member in a complex & fast-paced environment; excellent interpersonal skills; experience with international work, NGO's, or development work; web skills; strong writing ability; motivated & able to work without close supervision. Knowledge of Spanish would be an advantage.
